In order to guarantee the coffee plantations of tomorrow, Cooxupé has developed the Generations Protocol. It is a tool for continuous improvement on the road to sustainability, which is subdivided into environmental, social and economic assessment levels. The Generations Protocol was designed to take into account the molds of Brazilian coffee growing and its premise is to be an inclusive protocol. Cooxupé provides a trained team to give all the necessary support to cooperative members so that they can adjust their practices and thus comply with all the requirements listed in the protocol. The idea is to provide coffees that, in addition to having quality in the cup, are aligned with an ethical point of view and in harmony with the environment and communities. The longevity of coffee growing depends on our conscious and responsible actions.

ENCOURAGING THE LEADERSHIP AND INCLUSION OF SMALL PRODUCERS IN THE COFFEE CHAIN THROUGH SUSTAINABLE COOPERATIVISM

The cooperative model in itself is sustainable: it is made up of people for people and allows the inclusion of small producers so that they can be protagonists in the coffee chain. We want to give everyone who is part of this collective the opportunity to lead change and innovation.

The "Generations" Sustainability Protocol was developed by Cooxupé with the support of SCS Global Services, a global certification body with over 40 years' experience in the environmental, sustainability and food quality fields. As a guarantee of the transparency and credibility of the process, the cooperative and its members will be regularly visited and subjected to a third-party verification process to ensure the adherence and evolution of producers according to the different levels of sustainability, as well as to verify Cooxupé's commitment to supporting its members.

CRITERIA, UPDATES AND SUGGESTIONS

The sustainability criteria were developed based on Cooxupé's experience with other codes of conduct in the market and other national and international regulations. The code is reviewed annually based on current and future demands. For any critical or immediate changes to the protocol, the request must be evaluated by the Cooperative's team, as well as by SCS Global Services.
