Always concerned with sustainability in all production sectors, Cooxupé's photovoltaic plant was inaugurated in 2023. With this major project, Cooxupé will now generate solar energy, a clean source that will supply most of its units located in Minas Gerais. With this investment, the cooperative will now have 13% of its energy generated from solar (photovoltaic) energy; 86.11% from hydroelectric power and other renewable sources (purchased from the free market, which meets the high demand from Cooxupé's industries); and the remainder, just 0.89%, purchased from CPFL, CEMIG and Energisa. "This project is a continuation of Cooxupé's constant quest to respect the environment, use renewable resources and optimize costs with energy efficiency. The photovoltaic plant is a step on the road to sustainability for our cooperative," said Cooxupé's president, Carlos Augusto Rodrigues de Melo.
Of the electricity consumed between January and December 2023, totaling 15,848.513 MWh, comes from special incentivized sources, such as wind, solar, biomass, PCH and CGH, with ZERO carbon emissions.
